Kimberly Loiacono was introduced to CranioSacral Therapy when her 2 year old daughter was diagnosed with bilateral hearing loss. She was encouraged to seek CranioSacral Therapy and decided to take a course to get more information. It was all she needed to postpone her studies in Chiropractic College and it was the beginning of her love for the work. For the past 12 years, Kim has delved deeply into the Upledger Institute's curriculum culminating with an Advanced 2 class with Dr. Upledger and an Advanced BioAquatics class where she lived on a boat and worked with dolphins. Her clients range from newborn to eighty and even include horses. She believes in providing a safe place to allow the body to recognize and reconnect to it's healthy authentic self and supports creating space within the body for change. Listening to the tissue is one of Kim's greatest gifts and this allows her to follow the body's innate wisdom to align and balance.
Kim is dedicated to sharing CranioSacral Therapy with the community. She is an Introduction/Overview and ShareCare presenter for the Upledger Institute, leads study groups for other CranioSacral therapists and teaches at a local massage school. Kim has also presented the benefits of CranioSacral Therapy and Visceral Manipulation at the Getty Center in Los Angeles and other venues. She is continually awed at the body's innate healing ability and is honored to work with every client.
Kim is a Certified CranioSacral Therapist and has a degree in both Psychology and Business. She has completed advanced training in Craniosacral Therapy, the Nervous System and Visceral Manipulation. She is fortunate to have personally studied with developers Dr. John Upledger, Dr. Jean-Pierre Barral, Gail Wetzler, John Hickey and has completed her Reiki Master training. Kim's sessions are a blending of CranioSacral Therapy, Visceral Manipulation, Lymphatic Drainage, Reiki, Oriental Medicine and intuitive bodywork.
"My intention for doing this work is to 'open pathways' and allow for change. The body knows how to release the restrictions that have been causing pain and dysfunction. My role is of a facilitator, empowering the client, allowing them to reclaim their innate ablilty to heal. As the body reduces restrictions that make it work so hard, less energy is needed to "try" to keep the body balanced. When these compensatory mechanisms are released, the body has more energy and ability to function."
